Equipment

  • Food Processor
  • Measuring Cups & Spoons

Ingredients

  • 1 can Chickpeas
  • 1/4 cup Chickpea Liquid
  • 1 can Great Northern Beans
  • 1/4 cup Lemon Juice
  • 1/2 Lemon Zest
  • 1/4 cup Olive Oil
  • 1 tbsp. Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp. Onion Powder
  • 2 tsp. Salt
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Dill
  • 1 tbsp. Sesame Seeds

Instructions

  • Drain (but save the liquid!) to the chickpeas and drain the Great Northern beans thoroughly. This helps remove excess sodium and improves the flavor.
1 can Chickpeas, 1/4 cup Chickpea Liquid, 1 can Great Northern Beans
  • In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, Great Northern beans, chickpea liquid, fresh lemon juice and zest, and olive oil. Blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides as needed.
1/4 cup Lemon Juice, 1/2 Lemon Zest, 1/4 cup Olive Oil
  • Add the garlic powder, onion powder, sesame seeds, salt, and chopped fresh dill to the blended mixture. Pulse a few times until everything is well combined. Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed, adding more salt or dill to your liking.
1 tbsp. Garlic Powder, 1 tsp. Onion Powder, 2 tsp. Salt, 1/4 cup Fresh Dill, 1 tbsp. Sesame Seeds
  • If the hummus is too thick, you can add a little more aquafaba or olive oil to achieve your desired consistency. Blend again until smooth. Transfer the lemon and dill hummus to a serving bowl.
  • Drizzle with extra olive oil, and garnish with additional fresh dill & ENJOY!

Notes

Storage Tips For This Recipe

  • Refrigeration: Store the hummus in an airtight container to keep it fresh. Properly stored, it can last in the refrigerator for up to 4-5 days.
  • Cover with Olive Oil: To help maintain freshness, drizzle a thin layer of olive oil over the surface of the hummus before sealing the container. This creates a barrier that can help prevent oxidation and keep the hummus moist.
  • Freezing: If you’d like to store the hummus for a longer period, you can freeze it! Place the hummus in a freezer-safe container, leaving some space at the top for expansion. It can be frozen for up to 3 months.
  • For easy portioning, consider freezing the hummus in ice cube trays. Once frozen, transfer the hummus cubes to a freezer bag for convenient use.
  • Thawing Frozen Hummus: To thaw frozen hummus, transfer it to the refrigerator and let it thaw overnight. Alternatively, you can place the container in a bowl of warm water for a quicker thaw.
  • Once thawed, stir the hummus well. You may need to add a little olive oil or aquafaba to restore its creamy consistency, as freezing can sometimes change the texture.
  • Serving Suggestions: When serving the hummus after storage, give it a good stir to incorporate any separation that may have occurred. Taste and adjust the seasoning, if necessary.
